IT Practitioners First Diploma
A BTEC First Diploma is a practical, work related course. This programme introduces you to the IT employment area and provides a good basis to go on to a more advanced work-related qualification.

Edexcel.
Attendance Requirements:
Full-time. Details regarding expected course timetable and attendance will be given at interview, if available.

Entry Requirements:
Applicants should have one of the following:

• At least four GCSEs at average grade D
• BTEC Introductory
/Foundation level at Merit or Distinction
• Foundation GNVQ at Merit or Distinction
• Applicants should have an appropriate standard of literacy and numeracy, and related interests

Entry Process:
All applicants will be invited to an interview with the tutor, allowing you to find out more and check that the course is the best option for you. Interviews normally take place between January and September of the year in which the course starts.

Assessment:
Internal assessments are set and marked by College staff. The integrated vocational assignment is an externally set and marked assignment.

Progression Routes:
Progression to the BTEC National Diploma for IT Practitioners, as well as some business related courses at West Kent College.

Career Options:
Employment can be gained at a junior level in a variety of occupations, for example with banks, local authorities and insurance companies.
