Applicants should have at least 4 GCSEs at Grade D-G or above, or equivalent, or set of qualifications, considered by the Course Team to be satisfactory.

Course Content

Core Units:

• Working Safely and Effectively in Engineering

• Interpreting and Using Engineering Information

• Mathematics for Engineering Technicians

Additional units in a range of engineering disciplines are offered. These include topic areas such as:

• Applied Electrical and Mechanical Science for Engineering

• Using Computer Aided Drawing Techniques in Engineering

• Metal Fabrication and Machining Techniques

• Operation and Maintenance of Mechanical Systems and Components

• Operation and Maintenance of Electrical Systems and Components

• Fabrication Techniques and Sheet Metal Work

• Electronic Circuit Construction

Course Aims

The course aims to provide students who do not have the necessary GCSE grades to gain an entry qualification that allows access to a range of Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma Programmes and also allows access to training in a range of vocational areas.
