Course Content
Modules include: Research Techniques Production Management Project Digital Graphics Developing a Small Business Advertising Production for Television Animation Production Producing Video Installation Work Web and DVD Authoring Video Production Motion Graphics If you are accepted onto this course without a Grade C or above in Maths and/or English you will be required to complete the relevant Essential Skills qualification. This will be a compulsory part of your timetable.
Course Aims
Over two years, you will learn the ins and outs of a range of powerful software packages, starting with Photoshop, and working your way up to 3D Studio Max, via, amongst others, Flash, Dreamweaver, Premier, After Effects, Fireworks and Sound Forge. You will be fully equipped to build interactive websites, generate animation, and compose graphics for electronic formats. This is an exciting and popular course; all software is taught by experts in their chosen field.
Special Features
Interactive media is an exciting, constantly-expanding area. Our students work on live projects for real-world clients. Last year, they helped to create a website about the motorcyclists known as the Armoy Armada and recreated a 3D model of the Titanic dry-dock for a BBC interactive project. This year, they are working on a detailed reconstruction of historical Coleraine, in partnership with the local council and the Irish Society. Live projects like this allow students to walk straight into employment when they finish as some have or continue on to specialist higher-level courses in animation, web design, TV graphics and special effects.
Achievements/Qualifications
Equivalent to 3 GCE A Levels. By the end of the course, your level of training will be such that you will be equipped to enter the industry, or else proceed to a related university degree. In either case, you will be able to show a portfolio of visual work, executed to a high standard. You will have a solid understanding of the wider media environment,as well as having acquired research, managerial and other professional skills.
