Summary
This course is a vocational education/training programme covering all aspects of digital video production including; camera work, digital editing, lighting, scripting, storyboarding and production scheduling. Students work in small production units producing a wide variety of video productions ranging from corporate promotional work to music video. A proportion of the work undertaken is commissioned by outside clients and therefore provides on-going work experience for students. This is a full time course and students will be expected to attend College on at least 2.5 days per week with 2.5 days home study.
Qualifications
Edexcel (BTEC) National Diploma in Media Production.

Students on this course gain enty to employment or go on to some of the country's most prestigious Universities which specialise in Media Production, Television, Film and 3D animation.
Modules
18 units are covered. Sample units include; Production planning, Video photography, Video editing, Lighting, Animation.

Course Content

The course provides exciting opportunities for hands on experience of moving image production through practical projects. The course operates an in house production studio 'Studio 18' which acts as a commercial production house taking on projects from external clients. This gives students real world experience in the media industry where they develop a strong showreel ready for employment/university. Students have access to high end Apple Mac edit suites, high definition cameras and many other production resources. There are opportunities for residental trips to New York and year 2 students have the opportunity to take part in a residential trip where they produce their own short film as a group, this will be exhibited at the end of year showcase finale at Cineworld, Bury St Edmunds. Topics covered range from Editing Techniques, Camera Tecniques, 2D Animation, 3D Animation, Interview Techniques, Music Video Production and Writing for Television and Video.
