Media Production National Diploma
This exciting two year course is suitable for those of a creative or technical aptitude. It provides a foundation of broadly based media skills and the opportunities to apply these to a wide range of challenging assignments.
Course Content:
The subjects encourage an appreciation of the demands and potential of technology within the creative communication industry and include:
- Media studies
- Research techniques
- Professional practice
- Production management
- Video /TV production
- Photography (conventional and digital)
- Audio production
- Page layout and design
- Digital imaging
This course will enable you to produce artefacts ranging from the design of a calendar to the production of a programme for television.
Awarding body:
Edexcel.
Attendance Requirements:
Full-time. Details regarding expected course timetable and attendance will be given at interview, if available.
Entry Requirements:
In addition to a suitable portfolio and an interest in media, applicants should have one of the following:

- BTEC First Diploma in a relevant subject, at Merit or Distinction
Entry Process:
All applicants will be invited to an interview with the tutor, allowing you to find out more and check that the course is the best option for you. Interviews normally take place between January and September of the year in which the course starts.
Assessment:
A significant amount of the course is subject to continuous assessment with assignments, subject to scrutiny by a BTEC-appointed external verifier.
Progression Routes:
This diploma is accepted, by universities and colleges of art and design, as an entry qualification for a range of media-related degrees or BTEC HND courses. Many past students have progressed to WKCs BA in Media, HND in TV and HND in Photography.
