You will discuss issues such as child care, care of the elderly and care for people with specific needs. You will spend some time on work experience (100 hours minimum). You can use this course to go on to higher education with the required points. The Certificate is equivalent to 2 A Levels and the Diploma is equivalent to 3 A Levels.

This course is suitable if you want to go on to university, further training or social work. You will study a range of subjects including research into the health sector, some scientific work, promotion of healthy living, looking after the environment, and social matters that affect health. You will discuss issues such as child care, care of the elderly and care for people with specific needs. You will spend some time on work experience. You can use this course to go on to higher education with the required points. The Certificate is equivalent to 2 A Levels and the Diploma is equivalent to 3 A Levels.
Will I have to sit any examinations?
Your work will be assessed through coursework and examinations.
What will I have at the end of the course?
On successful completion of the course, you will gain a BTEC National Diploma or Certificate in Health and Social Care. The following additional certificates may be available. Please enquire about their availability when attending your interview.

What next?
If you are studying for the Certificate, you can study at the College for another two years and gain the National Diploma in Early Years. Some students enter employment directly, taking up jobs in homes for the elderly, childcare, as a physiotherapists assistant or as a health care assistant in hospitals.
