About this course
You must be at least 16 years of age on starting the course. You will normally need to have at least one of the following: a BTEC First Diploma, or at least four GCSEs at grades A*- C preferably including English & Maths. You will be invited to attend an interview. In preparation for the interview you will be asked to practice an audition piece. You will be asked to perform the piece on your chosen instrument in an informal setting. Tutors will be looking for enthusiasm and commitment to rehearsing the piece rather than purely focusing on technical competence.

What will I study?
The course encompasses many facets of music with particular emphasis on the use of professional audio software and hardware in music production and recording. The college has a state of the art studio equipped with a Pro Tools HD system to assist in the delivery of the course and introduces students to the industry standard in digital audio workstation technology. You will also receive tuition in the more traditional aspects of music practice, including: music performance techniques and music theory and harmony. The historical development and context of popular music is also included to provide you with a sound knowledge of the music industry. The course is offered in a high specification new build at the Rhondda Campus with its state of the art studio facility. The lecturing staff all have first hand industry experience.
How will I be assessed?
All units are assessed and graded and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded.
