You will normally need to have at least one of the following: a BTEC First Certificate/Diploma, or an Intermediate GNVQ, (these would need to be in a related subject), or at least four GCSEs at grades A*- C. The National Diploma in Performing Arts is a 2-year three A level equivalent course. This course is designed for those interested in acting, dance, and singing. It offers the chance to study for a nationally recognised Performing Arts qualification, which will allow you to develop a range of skills required for performance in the medium of theatre. Regular visits to productions are undertaken. The course introduces a range of performance disciplines, which enables you to make a choice of a specialist pathway.

What will I study?
The course is made up of eighteen units - five core units, which everyone takes, and specialist units. Core Units: Performance Workshop; Performing Art; Performing Arts Business and Rehearsing Performing to an Audience. Specialist Units include: Devising; Acting 1 & 2; Drama Improvisation; Theatre for Children; Contemporary Theatre Performance; Performing with Masks; Scriptwriting; Movement; Dance; Singing and Voice.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is through a number of practical and written assignments. All units are internally assessed and graded with an overall grading for the qualification awarded.

BTEC National Diplomas are valued by employers and Higher Education institutes, (universities and colleges). After successful completion of this course you could further your studies with a BTEC Higher National or Degree course.
