NC Sport & Recreation (Higher) (Full-time)

Aims:
This course is designed to prepare students for entry to the
Sport and Recreation industry at a basic level or as preparation
for entry to various HNC/D courses such as Fitness, Health and
Exercise. The aims of the course are on gaining
practical skills with a greater emphasis on leadership and
organising.

Duration:
1 Year Full-time August to June.

Content:
Units at SCQF Level 6. A variety of practical sports subjects including:
. Core Skills (Higher)
. Development of the theory of Coaching and instructing
. Exercise Anatomy and Physiology
. Indoor sports: Basketball, Volleyball, Swimming etc
. Introduction to Research and Presentation Skills
. Outdoor activities: Snow Boarding, Mountain Biking, Hill Walking
. Pool Lifeguard
. Residential Watersports and Snowsports
. Resistance Training

Articulation:
This course is designed to articulate with various HNC courses such
as Fitness, Health and Exercise at Anniesland College and Sports
Coaching, Sports Therapy, Leisure Management or Sports Science
at other colleges.

Careers:
Former students have accessed employment as Leisure Centre
Attendants, Pool Lifeguards and Activity Leaders.
