Why should I study NVQ Level 2 Hairdressing?
Previous hairdressing experience is not one of the requirements of the course. Our aim is to help you to be successful in your chosen career path. What will be studied on the course?
The course involves both theory and practical based tasks which include:
- Consultation
- Shampooing
- Styling
- Colouring
- Perming
- Cutting
- Reception Duties
- Health & Safety

When does the course start and how long does it last?
The course will start in September and lasts for one year.
What qualifications are needed to do the course?
You will need to have:
- Completed NVQ Level 1 in Hairdressing along with Key Skills at Level 1
- 4 GCSE's Grade D or above.
How will the learner be assessed?
You will be continually assessed throughout your course in both practical and theory based tasks. You are required to carry out a number of practical assessments covering a wide range of treatments eg. colour, cutting, and perming. These will be logged in your portfolio, which you will continue to update as you pass assessments. You will also be required to complete assignments and written questions, which will contribute to your portfolio.
Key Skills is an integral part of the course, for which you will produce a portfolio and complete an external test.
How much will the course cost?
You will be required to purchase the following:
- Salon Kit, including; text book, training heads scissors etc.
- Salon Wear
- Name Badge
- Cost £170.00 approximately
What progression routes are available?
On completing your NVQ Level 2 Hairdressing you could then progress to:
- NVQ Level 3 Hairdressing (Advanced Apprentice) if you gain employment
- Working as a Junior stylist in a Salon
- Working as part of an artistic team on a Cruise Liner
- Working in a health club or hotel chain as a stylist
