Course Summary:
Students enrolling on this course follow a minimum two year part-time route (due to the structure of the programme an accelerated shorter route with an increase in the study time is possible). The course will provide:
- An opportunity for existing practitioners to advance their level of professional expertise
- Existing practitioners with the tools for practice development
- Unique learning experiences in the shared teaching of modules at M level, which is between the MOst and MSc pathways
- Opportunities for GOsC CPD requirements to be fulfilled
Course Details:
The Course consists of blocks of taught material of both practice based and research based relevance to enable the professional osteopath to enhance their skills and become academically expert and creditable in the field of osteopathy. Students will undertake small seminar presentations which will help them to develop a high level of professional competence and confidence in their chosen area of speciality. Coursework and presentations form the main basis for assessment and the flexible pathway consisting of blocks of taught aspects allow professional candidates to plan their learning around their professional practice. A research dissertation is an integral part of the assessment requirements.
Career Progression:
Applicants are Osteopathic professionals in current practice, and this degree can supplement their professional stature by enhancing the possibility of working within the NHS or alongside GP practices, in the field of Osteopathic Education or within further areas of research.

Tuition fee for EU students 1,293, and for overseas students 5,900.
Requirement
The following entrance requirements would usually apply: a) A 2:1 or above honours degree in an appropriate discipline, normally in osteopathy or osteopathic medicine, awarded by a British University, Polytechnic or CNAA, or; b) A diploma in osteopathy (DO) plus evidence of Continuing Professional Development which demonstrates the students ability to study at Post-graduate level, or; c) Qualifications from overseas universities and /or other institutions deemed to be of equivalent standing to a) or b) above. Where English is a second language candidates must demonstrate that they have written and spoken English skills to IELTS level 6. If they are non UK applicants entry may be accepted following consultation with the GOsC, but in accordance with c) above. And: d) Registration with the GOsC where appropriate. Lower levels of academic attainment may be accepted if accompanied by substantial professional achievement within guidelines specified by the Credit Accumulation and Transfer Scheme (CATS). All applicants should: a) be prepared to attend an interview with, and satisfy the Masters Selection Committee of their ability, appropriateness and commitment to higher level study, as necessary. This should include presentation of evidence of the applicants previous ability to define and apply their own learning to meet the outcomes of their preceding programme. b) Demonstrate acquisition of professional skills and attributes expected of a Primary Healthcare Practitioner. This can be in the form of a professional reference.
