The Diploma is the route for those of you who know that they want to work with people, in areas such as the health professions, the childrens workforce, social work or youth and community justice, but have not yet decided which of these areas to specialise in. Each level of the Diploma is made up of a number of separate components which can be achieved either as stand-alone qualifications, or, if you complete all of them will enable you to be awarded the full Diploma.
Course Content:
Focusing on developing the knowledge and skills that are needed to broaden and deepen your understanding of many aspects of Society, Health & Development. Principal Learning:
- The sectors in context
- Principles and values in practice
- Partnership working
- Communication and information sharing
- Personal and professional development in the work environment
- Safeguarding and protecting individuals and society
Generic Learning: This element aims to ensure a good standard of English, Maths and ICT skills required for everyday and working life, as well as giving a good grounding in personal, learning and thinking skills. Functional skills qualifications form part of the programme. Additional and Specialist Learning: AS Levels in either Psychology or Sociology
Work Experience / Practical Experience:
You will complete 20 days learning in two work-related. You will also be able to work on a project to put into practice what youve learned. For example, you might create new resources for a Nursery, plan an activity day for a Care Home or a programme for a group of young offenders. Your work experience will be backed up by visits to settings, visits from employers, and the chance to practice skills in a virtual work environment.
Entry Requirements:

- Level 2 Diploma in a related subject, or
- Alternative Level 2 qualification at Distinction with numeracy and literacy

All applicants will be interviewed prior to acceptance for the course. An interview will be arranged at the earliest opportunity after receiving your application.
Assessment:
Assessment via internally and externally marked assignments across all areas of the Diploma.
