About this course
College interview. 5 GCSEs grades A-C including Maths and English. Satisfactory school report and/or references. A Satisfactory Criminal Records Bureau check is also required of students entering the Society, Health and Development Diploma.

Course Overview
This is a two-year nationally recognised course that prepares you for employment or higher education within Health, Social Care, Children and Young People or Community Justice. The full Advanced Diploma is the equivalent to 3.5 'A- levels.
Course Structure
The Diploma consists of 6 areas of learning:-
Principal Learning â€" this includes the core subject areas such as Safeguarding and Protecting Individuals in Society and Personal and Professional Development in the Work Environment.
Functional Skills â€" these are a standalone qualification (but form part of the diploma).They provide you with an opportunity to develop and apply functional skills in English, Maths and ICT within sector related contexts.
Additional & Specialist learning â€" within this element you will complete a specialist area of learning. This may be undertaken within the Thanet Consortium.
Personal, Learning and Thinking Skills â€" this element encourages you to use your Personal, Learning and Thinking Skills to make you more employable.
The Project â€" At this point in your course you are encouraged to complete a project of your choice.
Work Experience â€" Within the Society, Health and Development Diploma you are required to undertake a minimum of 20 days work experience.
Qualification Aims
With successful completion of this course you could apply to enter Higher Education / Specialist Employment Training for example; Police Community Support Officer, Social Work, Nursing, Residential Care Management,Youth Offending, Housing and the Probation Service.
Assessments/Examinations
Each of the Course Elements are assessed through course work and examination.
Cost / Equipment
Tuition is free to 16-18 but there are tuition fees of£495 for 19 and over.
There are also additional costs:
