The BA Theatre Arts is a one year Honours top up course which provides the exciting opportunity for Foundation Degree and HND Drama, Dance, Technical, Design and Make Up students to progress their qualification to Degree level through a unique combination of practical (70%) and academic study (30%).
The course takes place in the excellently equipped environment offered by The Southern Theatre Arts Centre. The focus of this challenging programme is the development of the student as an individual through the study and exploration of theatre skills. Collaborative theatre practice, pushing the creative potential of performance, design, technical and management disciplines, is central to the philosophy of the course. Regular workshop and company productions enable students to develop their own skill practice to professional standards, preparing them for employment or Post Graduate study.

Course Content
Induction - Student Conference workshops and seminars exploring the Northbrook resources and the themes underpinning the years journey. Experimental workshops enabling the students to develop a shared language and the relationships between disciplines and course groups

Specialist Discipline Practice the opportunity for students to develop and refine their own personal practice over twelve weeks with specialist tutor guidance

Collaborative Practice the creation over 12 weeks of new work for theatre or media by student groups culminating in shows and events presented in The Northbrook Theatre and regional venues

Dissertation 5,000 to 7,000 word extended essay

Progression/Career Path
Employment in the theatre and entertainment industry as performers, administrators, managers, technicians, designers and makers. Appropriate post graduate studies including Theatre, Drama, Performing Arts, Stage Management or Theatre Design with merit/distinction profile PGCE.
