The course is designed to provide a sound understanding of basic engineering principles as applied to the design, manufacture and maintenance requirements of the modern motor vehicle. The National Diploma provides the training and development needed for students with a keen interest in automotive engineering. It is practically orientated with assessed practical tasks at each level but also focuses on the theory behind the engineering technologies involved in the automotive industry.

Entry Requirements

Normally students who are 16-19 years of age will require either a minimum of 4 good GCSE grades, including Mathematics and Science, or an Intermediate GNVQ or a First Diploma in a related subject or an equivalent. Entry for mature students without formal qualifications is at the discretion of the faculty. All students will be interviewed and undergo an entry test.
