This free course will help you improve your skills and gain a nationally recognised qualification: City &Guilds Functional Skills English qualification at Entry Level, Level 1 and level 2. Functional Skills English is about using English in the real world, so these topics will be put into an everyday, practical context so that you can demonstrate that you can use your knowledge outside of the course.

No formal qualifications or experience are required for this course. Learners must be 19+. There will be an initial assessment to decide which level is best for you

Course programme
There will be a mixture of whole class work, small group work and directed self-study to meet your needs. Practising what you have learnt during your lessons will improve your chance of success. Your tutor will give you homework on a regular basis and will recommend books, websites etc so you can study independently.
You could progress on to a Maths course, move on to GCSE English or widen your skills to include Computing.
