This course provides an understanding of the fundamental principles of image reporting, including ethical and legal aspects. It provides a foundation in the skills and knowledge required to fulfil an Advanced Practice Role.
About this course
Demonstrate an understanding of the fundamental principles of clinical image report structure
Reflect on their current scope of practice and critically evaluate the ethical and legal implications of advanced practice with regard to reporting on clinical images
Demonstrate an understanding of the requirements for advanced practice and demonstrate engagement with its core functions
Critically evaluate current audit/peer review systems and make recommendations for improvement
This course is for Health Professionals who wish to produce formal reports on radiographic images. You will have a minimum of 2 years postgraduate experience and have regular access to radiographic images and radiology support.
Normally, applicants must:
Hold a science or health-related degree at 2:1 or above
Have English language skills equivalent to IELTS level 7
Have 2 years post-registration experience
Hold current registration with the HCPC or NMC

Course programme
This module contains the key principles to develop a fundamental understanding of the ethical, legal and practical considerations and skills required to successful and safely fulfil the role of a reporting radiographer. There will be a particular focus on report structure and phraseology and advanced communication skills, both in the interprofessional context and with patients.
The requirement for advanced practice have also been considered, this module will aim to enhance leadership skills and knowledge of quality improvement. You will also learn key skills required to teach and mentor others.
This module is a core element of the Postgraduate Certificate in Image Reporting.
