This level 2 course is suitable for beginners wishing to follow a career in Upholstery or Soft Furnishings. Both courses cover many interesting and varied practical skills with the Upholstery Course covering a range of both modern and traditional techniques. The Soft Furnishings course covers a wide range of techniques including hand -made curtains, cushions, and lampshades.

How will I study?
You will learn and explore a range of techniques and have the opportunity to create samples before undertaking the main assessment units. For the Upholstery course the units include; Design, Seamed Components, Material technology, Modern Upholstery, Traditional Deep Buttoning and Health & Safety. The units for the Soft Furnishing Course include; Design, Seamed Components, Material technology, Curtains, Cushions, Lampshades and Health & Safety. If under 19 you may be required to study either GCSE or Functional skills as part of your programme. In addition to this we would aim to give you some work experience.
How will I be taught?
By your dedicated lecturers who will guide you through the course in both the classroom and the workshop.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment will be through grading on your practical projects, through short answer question papers and online tests.
