About the Course
This GCSE Chemistry course, which is part of the OCR Gateway Science Suite, gives you the opportunity to build on your interest and enthusiasm for Chemistry whilst developing critical approaches to scientific evidence and methods. You will acquire skills, knowledge and the understanding of how Chemistry works and its essential role in society today. The content of the course is based around six modules: Carbon Chemistry, Rocks and Minerals, The Periodic Table, Chemical Economics, Chemistry Out There and How Much?
The course is examined through three units of assessment, each contributing 33.3 % towards the total grade. Two external module exams cover the content of the course and the remaining Skills Assessment Unit is based on a written Science Research Topic and continually assessed Practical Skills through Can-do tasks.
