2. Course description GCSE Leisure and Tourism will allow you the opportunity to develop your communication skills as well as your research, graphical and ICT skills. You will be able to improve your interpersonal skills through debate and discussion as well as your problem solving skills in the controlled assessment element. The course will provide you with a clear overall view of tourism in the UK and abroad and give you a sound foundation if you intend to continue to study the subject to A /AS Level. The skills developed in this GCSE course will be transferable to an A Level programme. Leisure and Tourism combines well with any GCSEs and will give you a solid foundation for progress to an A Level programme which could contain Travel and Tourism or any other A Level subjects.

3. Entry requirements You must have a grade D in GCSE English language (and be re-sitting English at college) or be on an A-Level programme. Previous study of Leisure and Tourism is not necessary. You should have a genuine interest in Leisure and Tourism and it's impacts on the world around you, together with the initiative and capacity to study hard, both as a part of a group and individually. You need to have the self-discipline and motivation to undertake the data collection, research and writing required in the course and which will be applied to the controlled assessment unit. 4.
