Course programme

Content of the Course

The course consists of five main GCSE Maths topics: Number, Ratio & Proportion, Algebra, Statistics & Probability and Geometry & Measures, which are assessed by means of three end of year examinations in May/June. With friendly, approachable and experienced staff, students get plenty of support and encouragement to succeed. There will be an induction class at the beginning of the course to check that you are on the correct course and to determine which level is suitable for you. The course covers the Pearson/Edexcel GCSE Mathematics 9-1 syllabus and is particularly suitable for mature students who need to obtain a minimum of level 4 in GCSE Mathematics for entry to teacher training or university courses. Students should have already achieved at least a Level 1 qualification in Maths (or equivalent) prior to enrolment, and they will also be expected to study a minimum of 4 hours per week at home as this course is quite demanding .
