Course programme
The course consists of 6 main topics: Number, Algebra, Ratio & Proportion, Rates of Change, Geometry and Probability & Statistics which are assessed by means of 2 end of year examinations in May/June. With friendly, approachable and experienced staff, students get plenty of support and encouragement to succeed. Students will need to have achieved a Level 1 or equivalent qualification in Maths (or equivalent) prior to enrolment. They will also be expected to study a minimum of 4 hours per week at home. Please note, these courses are quite demanding, so there will be an induction class and assessment at the start of the course to check you are on the correct pathway and to determine which level is suitable for you. Students wishing to study for grades 5-7 (formerly C-A grades) should have a good standard of Maths already. Students who are not yet ready for Foundation GCSE Maths will be directed towards a Functional Skills qualification in Maths.
