Classes will focus on individual needs and abilities and offer a wide range of innovative teaching and learning approaches to help you achieve your goals.
Entry Requirements
You need to have at least a grade D or Level 2 Functional Skills in Numeracy (Maths). It is essential for the team to assess your needs prior to begininning the course, so you will complete an initial assessment as part of the interview process. Please note: we are unable to offer you a resit if you already have a grade C.

One year, part time.

This is an essential qualification for employment and/or further training.
Mandatory Units
In this course you will learn a range of numeracy skill including number, algebra, geometry and statistics. There are 2 levels of study, Foundation and Higher - you will discuss which level is appropriate for your individual needs. Stage 1 focuses on number: four rules, BIDMAS, directed number (working with positive and negative numbers), fractions, percentages, decimals and rounding. Stage 2 focuses on Algebra: collecting like terms, rearranging and solving, expanding and simplifying, factorising, linear and quadratic graphs. Stage 3 focuses on shape; 2D/3D shape, transformations, angles , perimeter, area and volume. Stage 4 focuses on probability and statistics: data, averages, representing data, analysing data and probability.

There are no optional units on this course.
Course Assessment
You will complete 2 exams, one using a calculator and one without a calculator.
Progression
We want you to be confident with maths and this course is designed to help you improve your skills and attain a higher grade in order to go on to further study or into employment.
