GCSE Turkish (OCR)
This course is for you if you enjoy learning languages and want to develop your skills in speaking, reading and writing Turkish, and in understanding spoken Turkish. You should also be interested in social and cultural aspects of Turkey and Turkish life.

What will I be doing?
You will be exploring the following five key areas through reading, writing, listening and speaking:
  • Everyday activities (home life, school life, eating and drinking, health and fitness)
  • Personal and social life (people, free time, making appointments, special occasions)
  • The world around us (local and other areas, shopping and public services, environment, going places)
  • The world of work (jobs and work experience, careers and life-long learning)
  • The international world (media, world issues, tourism, holiday accommodation)
How will they be assessed?
Throughout the course you will be given regular assessed written, reading, speaking and listening tasks to help you develop the skills necessary for exam success.
You will be formally assessed by exams in June. You will have 4 papers (each worth 25%) as follows:
  • Listening (45 minutes)
  • Speaking- including role-play and general conversation (15 minutes)
  • Reading (1 hour)
  • Writing (1 hour 15 minutes)
Where can I go after completing this course?
If you get a grade C or higher in GCSE Turkish you can progress to Turkish A level. Having a language at GCSE or A level will put you in a strong position on the job market and can be useful for a wide range of careers.
