Access to HE Diploma in a relevant subject (Engineering, Mathematics, Science) will be considered with 45 Level 3 credits: 33 must be from units awarded at Distinction (including a substantial amount of Maths or Further Maths), with the remaining Level 3 credits at Merit. Physics is also a preferred subject at level 3, but not compulsory.
Cambridge Pre-U D3 D3 M2
Must include grade D3 in Mathematics or Further Mathematics (full course).
Combinations of Pre-U principal subjects and other qualifications (such as A-levels) considered.

Course detail Description
The problems facing today’s engineers are increasingly complex issues such as energy, transportation and sustainability draw upon a range of engineering disciplines as well as topics such as policy and human behaviour. To solve these problems, engineers need both sound technical knowledge and a multi-disciplinary perspective.
This multi-disciplinary outlook forms the basis of General Engineering study at King’s. General Engineering students will benefit from a course that builds strong engineering science principles, combined with design and entrepreneurial insight, on an analytical foundation of mathematics and computing.
You will study topics that include design for engineers, programming, robotics, systems engineering, electronics, signal and information processing, mechanics, materials and manufacturing, heat transfer and fluid dynamics. The study of these specialist subjects is underpinned by a design-and-build approach that can be applied to create and improve technology, products and services.
Our course will encourage innovative approaches to problem-solving. This will include individual and collaborative project work with industry and your fellow students, giving you well-rounded team work, communication and negotiation skills that matter in your future workplace.
TeachingYou are expected to spend approximately 10 hours work per credit for each module you attend in your degree, e.g. 150 hours work for a 15 credit module. These hours cover every aspect of the module: lectures, tutorials, laboratory sessions, independent study, coursework and preparation for examinations.
AssessmentYou will be assessed through written examinations, project reports, and coursework. For the practical and design elements, you will be assessed through laboratory write-ups, design projects, presentations, research project reports and oral examinations.
