Course Summary:
This is an Entry 3 vocational programme designed to help you to develop the skills and attitudes to succeed.
This study programme will enable you to work towards an Entry Level 3 Certificate in Introduction to the Hospitality Industry, Functional Skills Maths and Functional Skills English, and to undertake work placement and enrichment activities.
Successful completion of this then gives you the opportunity to progress to the Introductory NVQ Certificate in Food Preparation and Cooking.
Entry requirements
The course is aimed at learners with grades F-G at GCSE - or no GCSEs - who would not at this stage be ready to achieve at Level 1 study. Their initial assessment would most likely be at E1/E2 in English and Maths.

Course Content: You will cover a variety of units in: Introduction to the hospitality industry Customer service in the hospitality industry Food preparation and cooking Essential knife skills Meal planning and preparation Using kitchen equipment Food safety You will also cover Functional English, Functional Maths, and enrichment and work placement activities. How will I be assessed? You will produce a portfolio of evidence and will be supported to work towards numeracy, literacy and personal targets which will be reviewed every half term. You will also sit a Functional English and Maths controlled assessment. Any inclusion and support needs will be assessed and reviewed throughout the year and we will work hard to give you the support you need. Are there any additional costs or specialist equipment required? You may be asked to make a voluntary contribution to trips throughout the year and will also need to purchase a chef's uniform.
