The course will give you an introduction to working in the food service / restaurant industry. You will complete two units as part of this course:
Preparation and Clearing of Service Areas (know how to prepare service areas and equipment for food and drink service / know how to prepare customer areas for food and drink service / know how to clear food and drink service areas after service/ know how to clean and store glassware.
Principles of Providing a Silver Service (understand how to silver serve food / know how to clear finished courses when providing a silver service.)

Course programme
The course is delivered and assessed at the Tycoch campus, in the Vanilla Pod training restaurant. Assessment methods will include practical observations and assessments, role play, discussions, short tests and theory lessons.
Throughout the course, you will complete a portfolio of evidence, which will be submitted to the external verifiers for moderation.
You could progress onto a full time course or you may choose to complete another short course, as a natural progression.
You must have a keen interest to work in the restaurant industry. You may be working in the industry and feel the need to improve your skills. You will need to attend an informal interview / guidance session, prior to enrolling.
