MSc Global Governance and Public Policy
Part-Time Programme
The MSc programme aims to provide students with an advanced knowledge of global politics and public policy. It will use concepts, theories and empirical evidence from politics, public policy and international relations to understand pressing policy challenges in a world of complex interdependence. The primary focus of the programme is on the application of theory to real-word policy problems across different sectors of the global economic and political system. The MRes in Global Governance and Public Policy has a further key aim: to teach students research methods which will prepare them to undertake further independent research in global governance and public policy. The compulsory module for this programme will introduce students to key global public policy issues, including international monetary and financial cooperation, aid, trade and development policies and climate change policy. The wide range of optional modules for this programme will allow students to develop specialist knowledge in several substantive areas, including UK and European public policy, EU and US foreign policies, globalisation, international security and terrorism. A distinctive feature of this programme is that it will exploit synergies between the Department's expertise in the area of public policy and international studies.
