This is by a three-hour examination in all subjects, except Employment Law, where assessment is by a 5,000 word assignment and Legal Research and Skills by a 3,000 word assignment. What can I do next This course will enable you to progress to the Solicitors’ qualifying route, the Legal Practice Course (LPC), the Barristers’ qualification, the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) or to become a Chartered Legal Executive (CILEx).



Alternatively, the course can provide a valuable law qualification in its own right, and is well recognised for those who wish to go into business or careers where knowledge of the law is needed such as education or the Civil Service. Course Modules The English Legal System:

This module provides an introduction to the legal and court systems of England. Students consider the validity of the use of juries and the ways in which judges interpret the law. Skills relating to presentations, writing and debating are introduced.

Contract Law:

This module covers the requirements for a valid contract to be formed and the ways in which contracts can end. Students learn about the remedies which can be provided by the courts and the application of the law to various situations.

Tort Law:

An introduction to the law relating to civil wrongs including the tort of negligence and the ways in which a claim can be brought to the courts. Students consider the use of various remedies including damages/compensation.

Criminal Law:

Students learn about the ways in which citizens are held to be criminally liable and the requirements for the state to bring a charge against a person. Different crimes and their elements.

Public Law:

An introduction into the concepts of the Rule of Law, Supremacy of Parliament and Human Rights Law and the interaction between the citizen and the state. Students study the ways in...

Course programme

Course overview This course offers a speedy route for non-law graduates to gain a law qualification and to complete the academic stage of legal training. On completion of the course students are awarded the Graduate Diploma in Law and the LLB (CPE). Students will cover the seven core legal subjects which are: Contract Law, Criminal Law, Public Law, Land Law, Equity and Trust Law, EU Law and Tort Law plus one other subject. Our small teaching groups give you the opportunity for individual help and support. The course is held in the evenings and this allows flexibility around other employment. Entry requirements An undergraduate degree in any subject. Candidates who possess professional qualifications are encouraged to apply.
