About this course

Standard entry to this course requires a minimum of 32 UCAS points from a recognised level 3 qualification in a related subject (i.e. two A2s at grade D, extended diploma PPP, or an Access to HE). You are expected to hold GCSE English and maths at grade 4/C or equivalent. We welcome applicants who do not match standard entry requirements but who can demonstrate ability to study this subject at university level and who can evidence relevant experience. Course programme

Year 1

The qualification has a strong vocational and industrial focus, with academic properties, designed to meet the needs of this exciting and ever changing creative arena. Students will study the latest design techniques and learn how to research and respond to developments in culture, concepts and technology. A business study in year one will give you an underlying insight in how companies or freelance business are set up and run. The course also offers a tutorial system to help with your work and planning progress.

Year 2

Over the two years you will study level 4 and 5 modules.
Level 4 Modules include the principles of graphic design, typography, creative applications and digital media, web design, contemporary graphic design and live projects by creative industrial professionals.

Level 5 modules include multimedia in the 21st Century, advanced web and multimedia design, advanced graphic design, professional creative industries, cross media and cultural communications

Additional information

All modules contain practical assessments. There are no external assessments or examinations on this foundation degree. The module handbooks contain the assessment and unit information. All assessment is moderated before grades are released.
