During this module you will learn and develop the underpinning academic knowledge and clinical skills needed to undertake a range of gynaecological ultrasound examinations.

You will develop your knowledge, understanding and ability to perform, interpret and report on diagnostic gynaecological ultrasound examinations in a competent and professional manner and be able to respond to changes in working practice and apply new techniques after critically evaluating them. You will develop the skills to be able to critically review management options for a range of common pathologies.

The module will facilitate the extended role of the practitioner by encouraging the skills of reflection and analysis so that you can critically appraise current practice, propose and develop improvements in practice and so improve the service to the patient and the effectiveness of the ultrasound department. A BSc (hons) 2:2 or above in a relevant health related subject and a clinical placement for three days per week in a recognised clinical department are needed prior to entry.Co-requisites:  For the ultrasound programme, this module can only be chosen if the Fundamental Principles of Ultrasound Practice and Developing Advanced Practice modules have already been studied/will also be studied.
