Hair care has ancient origins. The oldest razors found by archaeologists date back to 3,500 years ago in Egypt, during the Bronze Age, while the first real barber shops appear in the Hellenistic era in Greece. Hairdresser is the term used to refer to the craftsman who specializes in the elaborate cutting and styling of the hair. The term is used in particular for women's hair, but sometimes also for men, although traditionally men also use the barber for the finishing of beards and mustaches. In our times, in addition to cutting and washing the hair, the hairdresser can carry out special processes such as coloring with a hair dye, styling, using electrical appliances to straighten the hair or make a perm and moreover, at the request of the client, he can prescribe, advise and recommend specific products for his hair. In the hairdresser's shop, when it is equipped as a "beauty salon", there may be assistant workers involved in hair removal, skin care and nails (manicures). In the past, the hairdresser was involved in the packaging of wigs for those who wanted to cover their baldness or use already styled hair to replace their own.
