Hairdressing NVQ Level 3

Who is this course for? For those people who wish to progress from NVQ level 2 Hairdressing and qualified stylists working in the hairdressing industry who want to add to their professional portfolio. Students undertaking this programme will find it challenging but rewarding. For an informal chat, guidance or further information, please fill in an application form or contact the college.

Previous knowledge required: Prospective Candidates must: Have completed NVQ level 2 Hairdressing. Have an interest in working with the general public, a commitment to succeed within this vocational area and be successful at college interview

What will I study? At NVQ Level 3 the training programme includes the following units: Advanced cutting techniques Advanced Colouring Advanced Perming Colour correction Style and dress long hair Indian head massage Key skills units Health and safety units salon management units

What else will I do? During your participation in the programmes you will be working commercially in well-equipped salons on members of the public. You will work with real clients on a regular basis throughout your training. Salon management skills are realistically taught along side formal training in practical skills. You will also have the opportunity to attend additional seminars and workshops.

How will I be assessed? Assessments are carried out during the practical sessions where you will be observed treating clients. You will also have assignments and externally set exams

What will I achieve? NVQ level 3 hairdressing VRQ Level 3 Diploma in hairdressing Key Skills units

What can I do afterwards? Work within the hairdressing industry as a stylist You could progress to jobs with more responsibility such as senior stylist or salon manager You could find opportunities in a number of other places, such as hotels,cruise liners, hospitals and care homes.

Materials required: You will be required to purchase a uniform and additional hairdressing kit

Additional information about this course: You will be required to attend college salon one evening per week as part of your course.
