HAIRDRESSING (NVQ Level 3)

Why should I come to Pendleton College?
At Pendleton we have superb facilities, resources and equipment especially for students studying Hair & Beauty. We have strong links with Wella and local salons and benefit from this is a number of ways including free workshop demonstrations.

What will I study?
Units include:

• Health and Safety
• Promote Products and Services
• Consultation
• Fashion Cutting Techniques
• Develop and Enhance your Creative Skills (Hair shows)
• Style and Dress Hair
• Style and Dress Long Hair
• Fashion Colouring
• Promotional Activities

What will I achieve?
You will gain an NVQ Level 3 in hairdressing which will prepare you for employment in Hairdressing Salons, Health Clubs, Cruise Liners and Freelance Work. You may progress to Hairdressing Management NVQ Level 4 or progress into Theatrical Make-up.

How is the course assessed?
Practical assessment is essential in order for a candidate to be awarded a final qualification. Final assessment will be based upon a portfolio of evidence produced by the candidate to include:

• Client consultation sheets
• Photographic evidence
• Unit assignments
• Written and oral questions
• Planning and implementation of hair show
• Online assessments

What else will I do?
You will be able to visit Wella studios for free technical demonstrations and seminars. Wella visit the college to do in-house training on colouring, cutting and hair extensions. As part of our enrichment at Pendleton, you will have the opportunity to complete further units such as barbering and Indian head massage and an opportunity to participate in the artistic team. You will be required to work in industry for at least one day per week. You will also have the opportunity to join in competition such as the North West Competition at Blackpool and to visit Salon International in Manchester or London.
