Course programme

What will I learn?

You will learn about: the hair & beauty industry; styling ladies' and gents' hair; the art of dressing hair (hair up); creating a theme to include hair; make-up and nails; nail art; preventing dermatitis; and maintaining retail displays (run in conjunction with the Business department and retail shop on campus) You will also receive a Personal Skills Development (PSD) certificate and an induction qualification

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed through practical observations, written assignments and oral questioning

What may it lead to?

This can lead to the Level 2 Hairdressing course at Canterbury College

Entry Requirements

You will need 5 GCSEs, two of which must be grade D in both Maths and English The other GCSEs must be grade E in any subject

Additional Information & Other Costs

Students will need to purchase (uniform and hairdressing kit from our approved suppliers) and must abide by our professional dress code More information will be given in the interview Work experience is highly recommended but not essential
