About this course
To keep your clothes in great condition and make your own minor repairs and alterations - all without a sewing machine and just the power of hand-stitching!
Beginner seamstresses who want to learn some new skills handy alterations and upcycling techniques and anyone who gave a jacket in to the dry cleaners to sew a button back on.
No experience necessary. Class suitable for beginners.

Following several years working in high end fashion glossy magazines, Arianna then spent time using her skills in the costume department of some well known films including Bridget Jones Diary 2 and Harry Potter. Having also completed a BA degree in Historical Costume Construction, Arianna now spends much of her time creating bespoke wedding dresses and headwear. She has an undeniable passion and love for costume, fashion and her craft.

Course overview:
Extend the life of your wardrobe and save money by learning a range of really useful hand alteration techniques in this 2 hour evening session.
Areas we cover include:
- sewing on a button
- mending holes in knitwear and other fabrics
- patching techniques
- hemming
- shortening and lengthening dresses/trousers/skirts
- mending holes in pockets
- changing elastic in waists and bags
- changing fasteners and unpicking.
All equipment and materials are provided.
