This is an experimental technical painting course (with an element of drawing) which uses Picasso as a focal point. Class activities will be put in to the context of Picasso’s artworks and those of his contemporaries and heroes such as Georges Braque, Andre Derain, Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot, the etchings of Rembrandt. The first three sessions are structured around a method specific to a phase of Picasso’s output. The final two sessions are an opportunity for students to put their new skills to work on a personalised project.
