Entry Qualifications

Train to Gain NVQs are available free of charge to all employees aged 19-64 that do not already have a full Level 2 qualification.

Information about the course

This is ideal for employees working in the care industry. Learners must achieve 6 units in total four mandatory units plus a choice of two from the options listed.

Core units

The following four core units are compulsory covering the areas essential for success in this work:

  • Communicate with, and complete records for individuals
  • Support the health and safety of yourself and individuals
  • Develop your knowledge and practice
  • Ensure your own actions support the care, protections and wellbeing of individuals
Optional units

Tailor your course to your experience and skills with a choice of two units from the following:

  • Carry out and provide feedback on specific plan of care activities
  • Support individuals to access and use information
  • Support individuals in their daily living
  • Support individuals to make journeys
  • Support individuals to meet their domestic and personal needs
