Overview
If you have the ability but not the qualifications, this programme is your first step into a health and wellbeing degree. This programme is identical to the three year BSc Hons Health and Wellbeing degree, but includes a foundation year and a lower entry tariff.
Foundation year
In the foundation year, you will gain the academic skills you need to succeed at degree level. Then you will maximise your abilities in a degree that critically analyses the importance of the biological, psychological, social, economic and cultural context surrounding individual and community health and wellbeing. It will be a challenging and rewarding experience.
The foundation year will be taught at our Greenwich campus. Currently the following three years is taught at our Avery Hill campus.
The foundation year is designed to give you:
A thorough introduction to health and wellbeing
Essential computing skills
Improved communication
Academic writing skills
An understanding of ethics, enterprise and leadership
The ability to manage your studies independently.
Degree structure
You will examine the implications of local, national and international policies for the health and wellbeing of individuals and groups and consider strategies to promote individual, organisational and community health and wellbeing. You will also appraise and use research and demonstrate your potential to contribute to the evidence base underpinning the study of health and wellbeing.
Employability
We will support you in acquiring the skills to demonstrate graduate attributes for employment. Employers want experienced graduates, therefore, in your final year you will undertake a work placement.
Teaching methods
You will be taught through lectures, seminars and tutorials, and in small groups using case studies, role play and student centred learning. You will also carry out a research project.

Applicants from a UK educational background:

Applicants would normally apply with the equivalent of 64 UCAS points (or above), plus GCSE English and maths grade C (or above).
