The Level 3 90 credit BTEC Diploma in Health and Social Care is equivalent to one and a half A Levels. You learn through taught classes and activities, individual study, work experience and possibly a residential visit.
At the end of the year you can progress into employment or study for an additional year to achieve the 3 A Level equivalent Extended Diploma in Health & Social Care.

Our Level 1, 2 and Level 3 Health and Social Care courses prepare you to work in a range of settings or to progress onto higher education. You will learn through taught classes and activities and a range of work-experience placements. You will study a wide range of subjects including communication skills, individual and care needs, rights and responsibilities, equal opportunities and human growth and development. You will also study specialist units which could include cultural diversity, caring services and the impact of diet on health. After the course you can either progress through programmes to degree level, onto an apprenticeship or find employment in the health and social care sector, such as care assistant, health care support worker, nursing and social work. You will develop the skills to care for others and the responsibilities of working as a professional in a caring environment. You will be assessed through course work. This course is available at Technology Campus and Keighley College. A minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above including English and ideally Maths or equivalent (L2 Functional Skills), NVQ2 or Level 2 Diploma at Merit Grade with English and Maths at minimum Grade C or equivalent (eg Level 2 in Functional Skills). Some courses may require the achievement of specific qualifications/grades.
