If you like the idea of working with adults, young people or children and a career in either health, social or childcare then this course will offer you an introduction to professional practice, basic care, learning and development. It will give you a foundation of knowledge and practical skills. In addition it will build your confidence, teamwork and communication skills within the vocational framework.

How will I study?
The course is made up of 14 units that will be assessed by a variety of methods including projects, written assignments and practical tasks. As you progress through the course, you will achieve the Award followed by the Certificate. Functional Skills qualifications in Maths and English will be taught alongside the course. Example units include: • Person Centred Approach • Healthy Eating • Preparing for your Next Steps • Values and Principles • Range of Service Provision. If you are a full time student aged 16-18 you will follow a study programme which will consist of your main course, enterprise and enrichment activities, English and Maths.
How will I be taught?
Teaching and learning through taught sessions, group work, role play, self study and practical tasks.
How will I be assessed?
All units will be internally assessed through a variety of methods including projects, written assignments and practical tasks.
