Qualification: BTEC National Diploma - 2 year course

Entry requirements:
BTEC first in Health and Social Care, 5 GCSEs grade A*- C and at least a grade C in GCSE English and Maths or Science/Biology is a minimum requirement. Good English skills with evidence of aptitude in Maths or Science.

Course assessment:
There are 18 units covered in the course, 6 of which are Core units.

The units cover a range of topics including:

• Effective Communication
• Equality
• Diversity and Rights
• Anatomy and Physiology
• Sociological Perspectives
• Psychological Perspectives
• Public Health and Health Education

What can this course offer me?
The course offers the opportunity to develop the skills to enable you to pursue a career in Health, Education or Social Care. You will have the opportunity to gain experience in a range of placements and learn how to relate this to class work.

What will I learn?
You will develop good organisational skills, the ability to work independently and in a group. You will gain a good level of communication skills through lesson and work placements. You will also learn how to do the following:

• research information,
• prepare and give presentations,
• interviw clients,
• use IT
