Aimed at updating candidates on safe, efficient and reliable appliance/system installation in accordance with Building Regulations. Suitable for: Installers, maintenance businesses, chimney sweeps (the two day course), specifiers, building control officers and inspectors and indeed anyone who needs to know about safe installation practices. Individuals who have already completed the two day dry appliance course are entitled to take the third day (wet appliances) only to enhance their qualification.

This incorporates the 2 day Dry Appliance Course plus a one day Wet Appliance course.

Solid fuel awareness topics (days 1 and 2 - Dry Appliance course):

Trade and Advisory bodies (HETAS, SFA, ACIMS), Related health and safety, Carbon monoxide issues, Appliance types, Fuels, Correct installation requirements, Open fires, Room heaters, Boilers and cookers, Chimney design and principles, Chimney principles and safety, Chimney fault investigation, Appliance maintenance.

Solid Fuel Engineers topics (day 3 - Wet appliance course):

Special system design requirements, Appliance and heating system fault finding, Appliance and System commissioning.

Additional information

Comments: This course can be used when seeking HETAS registration but it is not the only criterion for registration. There is always a requirement for registration applicants to have built up skills and experience in solid fuel installation prior to registration.
