What are the main features of this course?
A/S and A level History are about what happened in the past and why historical events occur.
The first year will contain 2 modules
- British Political History 1945-1990
- Civil Rights in USA 1945-68 and China 1900-1949
In the second year there will be two more modules
- Superpower relations 1945-1990
- Colonisation and Decolonisation Africa 1870-1981

How is the course assessed?
There are two exams for AS, one in January and one in May/June. These consist of structured questions and each paper includes a question on fieldwork. There are two exams for A2. G3 consists of two essays and a question based on the research enquiry. G4 is a decision making exercise.

The majority of A level students go into higher education. History is welcomed by universities as a qualification for a very wide range of courses. Higher education and business value the skills learnt in History.
