Course Content
Course Content: (Year 1) Unit One covers the Wars of the Roses in England between 1455 and 1485, examining the conflicts that saw the Yorkist Edward IV seize the throne from the Lancastrian Henry VI. It also looks at the defeat of Richard III and the establishment of the Tudor dynasty under Henry VII. Unit Two covers the reign of Henry VIII from 1509 to 1540 considering foreign policy, the structure of government and the religious changes that led to the English Reformation. Course Content: (Year 2) Unit Three deals with the reigns of Edward VI, Mary I and Elizabeth I from 1536 to 1588. It studies the working of government and the politics of the court, religious changes and relations with Spain leading to the Spanish Armada. Unit Four is a coursework unit. Students will complete a personal study, choosing a historical theme from the subject of Crusading Europe from 1095 to 1204. There will be a short introductory course and students will then be helped to research and write their personal study.
