This course is suitable for anyone interested in a career in mechanical engineering, with a responsibility for the design, installation, commissioning and operation of engineering services.

About this course

The qualification opens up career opportunities in consulting, contracting and manufacturing in both the public and private sector. Students can also progress onto the BEng or the MEng at University of Wales Trinity St David.

Typical offer:
A Level = DD
BTEC Level 3 Diploma = MP
BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma = PPP
Access = Pass
In addition, students would be expected to have a C grade in Maths and a Science subject at GCSE. All students will need to have an interview.

Course programme

This course is delivered over two academic years.

First year modules are:

Second year modules are:

  • group project
  • fault diagnosis and condition monitoring
  • engineering mechanical principles

  • manufacturing, design and technology
  • thermofluid mechanics

Additional information

Tuition fees are £9,000 per year. For academic year 2018/19, students will need to get a tuition fee loan for the full amount. The College is offering a £1,000 bursary per year towards full time HE courses starting in September 2018 (this is dependant on satisfactory course progression).
