This is a portfolio based assessment qualification. Assessments will be made on practical ability and knowledge and understanding of set criteria. Completion of all mandatory units and optional units are required to receive the full qualification.

Course programme
This course will provide you with the skills and vocational qualifications so that you can work in a number of fields within the equine related industry.
If taking the riding option you should be able to ride in balance at all paces with and without stirrups.
You will be required to take an initial assessment in your riding ability.
Core/Optional Units:
- Undertake and review work related experience in the industry
- Carry out and understand the principles of feeding and watering horses
- Undertake routine stable duties
- Undertake horse handling
- Undertake horse grooming, trimming and plaiting
- Introduction to the principles of horse behaviour
- Understand the principles of horse biology
- Riding Option: Riding Horses on the Flat
- Non-Riding: Fitting and Maintaining Horse and Tack Clothing
In addition to your course you will attend regular tutorials. You will also complete a riding certificate and functional skills in Maths and English.
