Course programme


The course will provide you with the skills, knowledge and vocational qualifications so that you can work in a horse related environment or progress onto Higher Education in this area.


You will be expected to be available to attend college for a minimum of two and a half days per week plus a day work experience. You must be prepared to commit to 100% attendance.




The following units must be completed to achieve the Subsidiary Diploma qualification:



  • Understand and Promote Animal Health

  • Understand the Principles of Animal Biology

  • Select, fit and evaluate tack

  • Riding and exercising horses

  • Plan and monitor feeding

  • Undertake and Review Work Experience in the Land-based Industries

  • Anatomy and Physiology

  • Undertake stable and yard management
