What does the course involve?
You will complete a Certificate in Basic Food Handling along with the opportunity to cook contemporary cuisine dishes. You will study and demonstrate a range of techniques used throughout the hospitality industry. There will be various assessment methods including written coursework, presentations and role plays.
What will I study?
You will study 3 core and 3 specialist units, including, for example, customer service, running and planning a hospitality event, the hospitality industry, health and safety, and contemporary cuisine.

What is the BTEC First Diploma equivalent to?
If you achieve an overall pass grade or better this will equate to 4 GCSEs, grade C and above. A distinction overall will allow you to progress to a BTEC National qualification.
How much time is spent cooking?
This will vary throughout the year, depending on the units being studied, but is likely to be no more than 2 hours a week.
Are there any additional costs?
Yes. A uniform is to be worn in the kitchen, and you will supply your own cooking ingredients.
