{if "<p>The hospitality sector is a key player in the economic environment of the Northern region. "} What stands out about this course?

The hospitality sector is a key player in the economic environment of the Northern region. This course is a business based course which offers those who wish to work in the hospitality industry the opportunity to study hospitality against a broader business discipline. We believe that the future of hospitality management will be in the hands of those who can adapt to a changing business environment and so our graduates need to know about Human Resource Management, Marketing and Finance in addition to the more traditional modules in Front of House, Food and Beverage management and event organisation.

The programme reflects current trends and developments within this dynamic and expanding service sector industry and enables you to develop knowledge and practical experience in a work based environment. The programme will expose you to the most up-to-date and wide ranging industry practice, linked to your own work place or area of interest. The course will encourage and embed personal reflection and critical thinking skills in relation to practice in a hospitality setting. At the same time it encourages you to be insightful about your own qualities and interpersonal skills and areas for personal development.

The programme delivery and assessment strategies are designed to facilitate development of crucial management skills. Successful students have the opportunity to achieve the Foundation Degree as a qualification in its own right or to continue on to complete the Service Sector Management BA (Hons) or an alternative Honours Degree qualification.
